Frequently Asked Questions for New JEE(Main) 2015 - Joint Entrance Examination

1 What should be the result criteria of my 12th Board or equivalent for appearing in JEE?
Ans : You must secure 60% marks in 12th board or equivalent (55% for SC/ST/PwD candidates).
If you are appearing in 2015 Board exams for the very first time, the eligibility criteria will be ‘Top 20 percentile of the successful candidates’ in their boards, category-wise. This will be one-time exception for JEE(Advanced) 2015 only.

And if you are re-appearing in the 2015 Board exams for the improvement of your result, then-
● 60% rule will apply in case you use your result of 2012 Board exams.
● Otherwise ‘Top 20 percentile’ rule will be applied in case you use your results of 2015 Board exams.

2 What is JEE?
Ans: The JEE or Joint Entrance Exam is a common term used nowadays for both AIEEE and IIT- JEE.
Now, AIEEE is replaced by JEE(Main) and IIT-JEE is replaced by JEE(Advanced).For facing JEE(Advanced),you must be in the top 1.5 lac rankers of JEE(Main).The top 1.5 lac candidates (including all categories) who qualify with their respective category-wise cut-off scores in JEE(Main) can register himself/herself online (between 8th May,13 to 13th May,13) through the url:http://jeeadv.iitd.ac.in

3 Am I eligible for JEE-2015?
Ans: If you have passed 12th Board or equivalent in 2011 or 2012 or appearing in the same in 2015, only then you are eligible to appear.
You are allowed for maximum 3 consecutive attempts.
Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1988 are eligible. However, in the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PWD) candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST and PWD candidates who were born on or after October 01, 1983 are eligible. Date of birth as recorded in the Secondary Education Board/University certificate only will be taken as authentic.

4 I scored 65% aggregate in PCM group and at least 60% in each Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Am I eligible for IITs and ISM(Indian School of Mines)?
Ans: Yes, of course you are eligible for IITs and ISM if and only if you are the top 1.5 lac rankers in JEE(Main) and register yourself for JEE(Advanced) which can place you in IITs and ISM.

5 Can I get admission into JEE just with my 12th Board exam marks?
Ans: This time, for the Board toppers ‘Top 20 percentile’ for the successful candidates in their boards (category-wise) rule will be applied.

6 How many attempts a student can make for the entrance exam?
Ans: A student can make 3 consecutive attempts.

7 I am appearing in 12th Board exams. Can I apply?
Ans: Sure, all the PCM group students who are appearing in 12th Board exams are eligible for sitting in JEE.

8 I have passed 12th in 2012 and will appear for improvement exams in 2015.Which eligibility rule will be applied for me?
Ans: If you are re-appearing in 2013 Board exams for the improvement of your results, then-
● ‘60% rule‘ will apply in case you use your 2012 results.
● Otherwise, ‘Top 20 percentile’ rule will be applied in case you use your 2015 Board exam results.
This will be the one-time exception for JEE (Advanced) 2013 only.

9. What is the syllabus of JEE?
Ans: The syllabus for JEE (Main)-2015 will be same as that of JEE-2014 and the syllabus for JEE (Advanced)-2015 will be same as that of JEE Adv-2014.

10.What is the exam pattern of JEE?
Ans: The Paper-1 (described below) of JEE (Main) will be conducted in two separate modes i.e. Offline (Pen and Paper Based Examination) mode and Online (Computer Based Examination) mode. The Paper-2 of JEE (Main) will be conducted only in Pen and Paper based examination mode. A candidate will opt for either Pen and Paper Based or Computer Based examination modes for Paper-1 only.

Ans:You will be able to get your JEE Score Card via internet. If your rank falls in between the top 1.5 lac candidates, you will be eligible to register yourself for JEE(Advanced).You can check your results on the official website of JEE http://www.jeemain.nic.in and if you are one of the meritorious 1.5 lac rankers you can register yourself for JEE(Advanced) using url:http://jeeadv.iitd.ac.in

14.When will be the application forms available and what is the last date of submission?
Ans: Submission procedure of forms for JEE(Main)-2015 is over on 15th Dec,2012(upto mid night).

15.What are the languages I can opt for answering in JEE?
Ans: You can answer in either English or Hindi.
